16 years of raiseboring work and lateral development

Although the chosen site was located adjacent to an existing operating mine, this project was a greenfield project. The mine’s original design capacity of 3,000 tonnes per day was exceeded in the first year of operation. In addition to the excavation of the mine shaft, Redpath completed 700 metres of a 5.5 metre x 5 metre access drift, connecting the 777 Mine to the adjacent Callinan Mine to install the primary pumping station.

A further combined 1,700 metres of lateral development provided inter-mine access on the 1,262 level and the 1,412 level.

In addition to constructing a unique conical sump system which allowed for mineral recovery from the discharge water system, Redpath constructed the crusher stations, installed the underground crushers, and excavated the fine and course ore bins.

The project scope also involved sixteen years of production raises at 48” and 60” diameter, 60” ventilation raises, 60” diameter manway raises, service holes, paste fill holes with pipe installation.
