Konrad Mine is an abandoned iron ore mine that is converted into a permanent disposal site for radioactive waste.

Redpath Deilmann's work with Shaft 1 involved rehabilitation, stripping, equipping and a completely new shaft installation.

The central part of the future nuclear repository is the Konrad 2 shaft, which was sunk in the 1960's. Redpath Deilmann is involved in four independent contracts at this site.

The Konrad 2 shaft will be used for hoisting of containers with radioactive waste. Conversion of the shaft and shaft-station level was completed (90 m length and final diameter 10 m), along with a new shaft installation.

Redpath Deilmann's project involvement includes shaft rehabilitation, tunneling and underground construction, design and construction of hoisting system.
