Olympic Dam is located in Roxby Downs, South Australia, and is primarily a copper mine with gold, uranium, and silver mineralogy. In our current contract with BHP, Redpath provides ground support services, including cable bolting and fibrecrete application.
Redpath's ongoing contract at Olympic Dam involves installing cable bolting, applying fibre-crete, and managing the batch plant for consistent concrete supply. To enhance productivity, Redpath introduced the first Utimec XL 1100 Agitator ED - a diesel-electric concrete truck with a 10.5 m³ capacity. Its success led to an order for an additional seven units, which joined five Utimec LF 700 Agitators with a 6.5 m³ capacity. This expanded fleet enabled Redpath to set a record in October 2023, delivering 9,038 m³ of concrete in one month. The combined use of Utimec agitators and Normet Spraymecs for efficient spraying operations reinforces Redpath's commitment to innovation and high standards in ground support, meeting BHP's production and safety benchmarks.
